This file accompanies the list of TEAM OS/2 members world-wide (TEAMOS2.LST).

This list is distributed to many networks including Fidonet, Internet, Compuserve, and others, and can be distributed to others as long as the files are kept unmodified.

This file contains questions and answers about TEAM OS/2. If you have any suggestions for improving this file, please contact Janet Gobeille at one of the addresses given in the answer to question 3.

1. Question
What *is* TEAM OS/2?

Answer:

TEAM OS/2 consists of people who are OS/2 enthusiasts and are actively sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with others.

This is a very general description, but it's true. You become part of TEAM OS/2 by doing something that is not expected of you... Whether you're and IBMer or not, a teamer spends some of his own time helping other OS/2ers or promoting OS/2. This is not something done as part of a job description.

Note that teamers include IBMers and non-IBMers world-wide. Membership in TEAM OS/2 is not limited to IBM employees.

2. Question
but what does TEAM OS/2 DO?

Answer: Some of the things TEAM OS/2 members do include:

  • supporting OS/2 user groups (starting new ones, being a user group officer)
  • running OS/2 BBS's and online conferences (includes having your own BBS or being conference moderators or sysops)
  • demoing OS/2 to user groups, at retail stores, and in other public places
  • encouraging others to install OS/2
  • helping support those who have it already by answering questions
  • and many other activities -- limited only by the unlimited imagination of teamers

3. Question
How can I join TEAM OS/2?

Answer: Just let IBM know. The "Team OS/2 Support group" keeps a database of members. Please send us the following:

5. Question
What can I get from TEAM OS/2 Support?

Answer: What do you need?

Currently, we have a couple of packages that we offer, but if you have some other ideas, please let us know. Anyway, here it is:

--- IBM-PSP support of TEAM OS/2: ---

Due to the number of TEAM OS/2 members who have gone out on their own time (and often at their own cost) to do public OS/2 demos and support and encourage local retailers, we'd like to offer official support for these activities.

A. Demos:

If you're planning to do a demo for a group of people or for a public event, please contact us (see above for contact information)

For example, public demos at universities, at PC fairs, at hamfests, or at shopping center malls and OS/2 days at local retailers.

We would like to know:

Date and location of scheduled event (location, city, state, country)
Number of teamers involved in doing or supporting the demo
Number of people expected to attend and see your demo
If this is a public demo at a software retail store, also send the number of store clerks expected to be working during your demo.
Your name, shipping address, and telephone number

We would like to help with a 'TEAM OS/2 demo pack' with some things to support your demo and to give away during it. Since the contents will vary according to the event, we'll discuss what this will consist of after receiving your request.

Note: this support is not for user group presentations.

To support a demo for a user group, contact:

   Internet: ibmpcug@vnet.ibm.com
   Inside IBM: IBMPCUG at AUSVM1
   Fax:

Then after your event, we would like a report on it including:

 - names and addresses of all the teamers involved in the activity
 - number of people who saw your demo or tried OS/2 during that
   time
 - How did it go? Tell us what went well, what didn't, what
advice you'd have for others doing this? Also, what suggestions
do you have for our TEAM OS/2 support in the future.

B. Retail stores

If you have a local retail stores, we encourage you to 'adopt a store'. Meet the employees, answer their questions on OS/2, encourage them to stock it, visit them on a regular basis.

If you adopt a store that plans to carry OS/2, please contact us with the following information:

  • Name and address of store
  • Name of the store manager
  • Does the store have a demo OS/2 system (or will they?)
  • Do they need some OS/2 marketing materials (poster, literature etc?)

If the answer to the last question is yes, we'll send you a 'TEAM OS/2 Store Pack' for you to give to them. This contains some small things for the store employees, marketing literature, poster, catalogs for OS/2 merchandise, etc.

Note: at this time we are only prepared to offer this support within the US. However, if there are teamers outside the US who are seriously interested in requesting one of these packs, please EMAIL or FAX your inquiry below and we'll see what we can arrange.

6. Question
Where does TEAM OS/2 'hang out'?

Answer: Almost anywhere. There are several TEAM OS/2 user groups that have been formed recently. There are also some TEAM OS/2 gathering places electronically:

Fidonet: TEAMOS2 echo conference (on zone 1 backbone, available
               internationally)
Compuserve: (send a note to Vicci Conway for information)
Within IBM: See TEAMOS2 FORUM and TEAMOS2 CFORUM on internal
               conferences

| America Online: Look in the OS/2 Forum. There is a TEAM OS/2 Subject | in the News & Notes topic of the Message Boards, and teamers | can often be found attending the online conferences. | Also, there are often TEAMOS2 get-togethers or meetings at trade shows and technical conferences. If you plan to attend a conference, please check electronically for any TEAM OS/2 activity that may be planned.
