  • Insert DOS Bootable diskette in Drive A:
  • Boot system (Ctrl-Alt-Del or Power On Computer)
  • Remove DOS diskette from Drive A:

In this step, files on the TEMPORARY DISK 1 (SOURCE) will be copied to the REPLACEMENT DISK 1 (TARGET)

                 - When this above operation has completed,
insert original DISK 1 from OS/2 package:

                 - At the DOS A> prompt, type:
                              COPY A:bundle B:
                 - This time the ORIGINAL OS/2 2.1 DISK 1 is the SOURCE disk
and the REPLACEMENT DISK 1 is the TARGET disk.

5) The REPLACEMENT DISK 1, just created should be used to install OS/2 2.1. Please KEEP the original DISK 1 that came with OS/2 2.1 diskettes in a safe place. However, remember to write an note to use the REPLACEMENT DISK 1 to install OS/2 2.1. After complete installation, there will not be a need to keep the TEMPORARY diskette.
