HANDY KEYS

KEYS BY FUNCTION

ALT + (key) Accelerator key. To invoke either an action-bar-choice or pull-down-choice as denoted by a word with a single underlined letter.

ALT Acccess the title bar

Shift + TAB Backtab

Ctrl + Home Beginning of data

ESC Cancel

Ctrl + C Cancel program (from the OS/2 command prompt)

Ctrl + F4 Close a Help window

ALT + F4 Close active window

F6 Command dialog

Ctrl + Insert Copy

Shift + Delete Cut

Ctrl + \ Deselect all

ALT + UP/DOWN Arrow Display drop-down list or drop-down combo box

Ctrl + ALT + Shift + o Display list of OS/2 developers (secret from the Desktop focus)

ALT + F2 Displays the name of each driver as it is being loaded during boot-up. (secret Enter the key combination when you see "OS/2" in the upper left corner of your screen during boot-up).

ALT + Spacebar Displays the System menu of the active window

Ctrl + END End of data

F3 Exit close window (quit)

Shift + (cursor) Extended selection

F1 Help

F11 (in a Help window) Help index display

ALT + (Keypad 1 + 2) Insert page break (form feed) in text

ALT + F10 Maximize window

ALT + F9 Minimize window

Ctrl + (LEFT Arrow) Move cursor to beginning of preceding word

Ctrl + (RIGHT Arrow) Move cursor to end of next word

ALT + F7 Move window (use arrows to move)

F5 Open a file

Shift + Insert Paste

Shift + ALT + Backspace Redo (undoes last Undo)

F7 Rename file (during edit session)

ALT + (mouse select or Icon Name) Rename icon on desktop

Ctrl + ALT + DEL Restart the computer (reboot)

ALT + F1 Restore damaged OS/2 or undo changes to the desktop. (secret Enter the key combination when you see "OS/2" in the upper left corner of your screen during boot-up).

F4 Save and close (quit)

F2 Save and edit session

Ctrl + s Search (perform)

ALT + s Search for a word or phrase in Help topics

Ctrl + / Select all

Ctrl + Spacebar Select one object, deselect others

Note: in e.g. Word Pro, Ctrl+Fx works on the active document, and Alt+Fx on the full Word Pro-window.

Alt + F5: Restore a window (to it's original size)

Alt + F7: Move a window with arrowkeys

Alt + F8: Change windowshape with arrowkeys

Alt + F9: Minimize window

Alt + Tab: Switch between active windows
