Installing RAMFSOS2
USB Flahs / FAT32 / From Windows 10
I had been trying to install RAMFSOS2 to boot from a 4GB USB Flash drive and doing this from Windows 10 (64bits)
- Check that the USB Flash drive is formatted on FAT32
- Unzip all the contents of the RAMFSOS2 zip to the root of the Flash Drive.
Let's prepare some changes to make it boot from the FAT32 USB flash drive.
- Modify the "ramboot.cfg" file, this has the Config.sys stuff; Change cdfs.ifs line to fat32.ifs.
ifs=@:\os2\boot\fat32.ifs /C:8 /M:32 /W
- Also on the config.sys add on "usbd.sys" the following parameter "/I13"
!ifeq USBCD yes rem basedev=usbd.sys /V /I13 !else rem basedev=usbd.sys /V /I13 !endif
- Comment-out DASD32.DMD and OS2LVM.DMD and uncomment DANIDASD.DMD.
!ifeq DASD dani basedev=danidasd.dmd /AT:35,83,27 /MT:Aa,Ac,Ad,Ae,Af,Ab basedev=danidasd.dmd /AT:35,83,27 /MT:Ab,Ae,Aa basedev=danidasd.dmd /AT:35,83,27 /MT:Cc,Ce,Cb,Cg,Ci,Ch basedev=danidasd.dmd /AT:35,83,27 rem /MT:Bb,Bd,Ba,Bf,Bh,Bg !endif !ifeq DASD dani+partfilt basedev=partfilt.flt /A /W /V /P 83,35,27,0B,0C basedev=danidasd.dmd /AT:35,83,27 !endif !ifeq DASD 32 REM basedev=dasd32.dmd REM basedev=os2lvm.dmd !endif !ifeq DASD 16 basedev=dasd16.dmd !endif
- On "X:\boot\loader" modify the "boot.cfg" file. Add this line '--pt=0x35,0x83,0x27'
- Go to the \Tools\FreeInst directory
- Run "fi-w32.exe"
- Select Y if you are sure to continue
- Select the drive where you are going to install FreeLdr
