There are some OS/2 Warp limitations that are discussed on the forums and I wanted to try to summarized on this document.

RAM Limitations

HDD Limitation

OS/2 Warp 4.2, eComStation 2.2b and ArcaOS 5.0.x has the same HDD size limitation to 2TB. It is mainly because there was a technology change on the PCs that greater HDD size hard disks requires support for the UEFI BIOS and GPT.

  • UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) is replacing the regular PC BIOS. [1]
  • GPT (GUID Partition Table) is replacing MBR (Master Boot Record) [2].

Currently Arca Noae is working on a alpha version of UEFI support for ArcaOS, possible GPT support can be worked after that.
