Secure multi-user configuration for OS/2.
Secure Desktop is a set of applications which will control the access to the OS/2-desktop.
Secure Desktop bases on SES - Security Enabling Services - which will be delivered since Warp 3 fixpack#16 and Warp 4.
Before the WPS (WorkPlace Shell) is started a dialogbox comes up for entering user-ID and password. After this a user dependend desktop will be loaded. So every individual user has its own desktop with his own colors, applications, backgrounds and so on.
A small tool for administration of all users is also delivered. This tool allows it also to read the error-files, create desktops, restore desktops (under construction), delete and add users. A future version will also allow that programmers can write plugins for certain applications, for example access-control for miniSQL.
- Hardware/Software Requirements
- OS/2 compatible Personal Computer with enough about 16MB of memory, harddisk with enough free space - every user desktop needs 5 MB
- Operating System
- OS/2 Warp 3 WITH fixpack#16 or better or
- OS/2 Warp 4
- OS/2 2.11 is NOT supported by SecureDesktop!
- Note
- Security Enabling Service must be installed (you find this option in the setup-program of OS/2); If the installation of SES was done after OS/2-Installation it is important to apply that fixpack that was used for the operating system!
