Installation of OS/2 from a harddisk

There are many reasons why you might want to instal OS/2 from your harddisk. some of them are.

  • Its the fastest way.
  • Your cant get your CDROM drive to work under OS/2.
  1. First you have to make a copy of \OS2IMAGE from the OS/2 CDROM to Your Harddisk. you cant do that by boot DOS, in a konfiguration that can access your CDROM Drive.
  2. Lets say your have booted on a dos partition called C: and your CDROM drive is called F:.
  3. From the root in drive C:
 xcopy f:\os2image c:\os2image\*.* /s
  1. create a textfile called os2se20.src, in the root of drive C: with the following line.
   \os2image
  1. Make a copy of OS/2 Disk 1.
  2. Edit the config.sys file on the copy of disk 1.
  3. Change the SET OS2_SHELL line to :
   SET OS2_SHELL=sysinst2.exe C:\OS2IMAGE
  1. Boot on the OS/2 Installation disks. And you are now installing from your harddisk.
