If you need to preserve a 3½ inch floppy disk and you need to genera some exact images on OS/2 I had been trying the following tools:

Makedskf

Makedskf is a command line tool to create dsk images from a diskette in your drive. It can be used as simple as:

  1. Get madedskf from hobbes. (Download)
  1. Put makedskf.exe file on a directory that is on the path.
  1. Insert the diskettes and run a command like:
makedskf a: disk1.dsk

For what I have tested it will create an image of the diskette respecting all subdirectories and contents. I had also tested by decompressing the image with diunpack.
