IBM WorkSpace On-Demand was a software product that allowed to have a centralized operating systems desktop on the network. The WorkSpace On-Demand server contained all the user files and desktop configuration and the client's PCs booted on the network connected to the server.

The lase version of IBM WorkSpace On-Demand for OS/2 was version 2.0. IBM WorkSpace On-Demand version 3 was released only for Windows Servers.

Benefits:

  • The administration of which applications the user has installed on their desktop was centralized.
  • The user files were centralized on a single server facilitating the backup

Disadvantages:

  • Complete dependency of the network to work.
