John W. Thompson
John W. Thompson was general manager of IBM's Personal Software Products division, and responsible for developing and marketing the company's desktop software products, including OS/2 Warp, which was the foundation of a large family of software products.
Since joining the company as a sales representative, he has held a variety of sales and marketing positions. He was the general manager of marketing for IBM's Software Group, where he was responsible for developing and executing a strategy to support independent software developers around the world.
He is a member of the board of directors of the Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO). In addition, he has served as the chairman of the Florida A&M University Industry Cluster and the Illinois Governor's Human Resource Advisory Council.
Mr. Thompson has an undergraduate degree in business administration from Florida A&M University and a master's degree in management science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He is based in Somers, New York. With his two children now grown, he has more time to enjoy golf, jazz, and cooking.
