With the announcement of a January 10th ship date and the Release of other IBM Server products on the 13th of March in Sydney and Melbourne the Eagle has landed with a full Range of products, it is a good time to talk about Lotus GroupWare products.

With the release of Notes, Release 4, it provides major improvements in six areas:

  • Client/server messaging
  • ease of use
  • Internet integration
  • mobility application development
  • programmability
  • enterprise management and scaleability.

Notes Release 4 server will be available in single processor versions (ERPs US$495) as well as multi-processor versions (ERPs US$2,295). The package includes, a WEB Authoring tool called InterNotes Web Publisher 2.0, offering Notes customers the ability to publish Notes-based information to users for Web browsers.

There are three client versions advailable, one designed mainly for E-mail, another which is designed so that it can run custom Notes applications, and another for use by application developers and system administrators.

Lotus Notes Release 4 is able to support 16 platforms and at the moment is shipped OS/2 Warp, Windows NT, and AIX servers. Pluse Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 clients.

Additional client support to follow to include OS/2 Warp, IBM AIX, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Macintosh PowerPC and 68K, and Windows NT. As well server types will expand support to include Windows 95, IBM AIX, HP-UX, Sun Solaris and Novell NetWare.

In Addition, Notes V.4 supports 20 languages:

  • French
  • German
  • International English
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Spanish
  • Simplified Chinese
  • Traditional Chinese
