- New payment method available for Warpstock 2001 - Filip Molčan (molcanf@os2.cz)
Have you tried to register for Warpstock 2001 or purchase some merchandise, but had problems with the PayPal system? Perhaps you live outside the U.S. and were deterred by the 30-day verification delay? If so, then there is a solution. Registering for warpstock 2001 and buying Warpstock merchandise can be now be done through our eBay store! The URL is http://www.ebaystores.com/warpstock2001.
The Warpstock 2001 eBay store lets you purchase the same items at the same price as with PayPal. It's just another method for OS/2 users to buy Warpstock tickets and merchandise. Some people prefer PayPal, others will prefer the eBay store. The choice is yours, and after all, isn't that what OS/2 is all about?
The key difference between the PayPal system and the eBay store is that the eBay store does not require you to verify your account with your bank or credit - a process which can take a month with Paypal for people outside the U.S. With the eBay store, payments can be made immediately, via MasterrCard, Visa, Discover, or electronic checks drawn directly from a U.S.-based bank account.
Until September 1, the registration price for Warpstock 2001 is $90 per person for the entire weekend. The exhibitor registration fee is $500. The Saturday night social event is $50. You can also pre-purchase Warpstock shirts and coffee mugs, which can be either picked up at Warpstock 2001 or delivered to you.
The Warpstock Board of Directors and the Warpstock 2001 Event Team look forward to welcoming the OS/2 community to Toronto for the greatest Warpstock experience ever.
The 5th annual Warpstock conference will be held October 6-8, 2001, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is produced by Warpstock, Inc., a North Carolina non-profit corporation. The Warpstock annual conference is a gathering of OS/2 users, developers, and vendors from around the world for the purpose of education and advocacy. More information is available at the Warpstock 2001 website, http://www.warpstock.org or its mirror site: http://warpstock.os2voice.org.

For those of you that don't know DFSee yet, it is an FDISK, display, analysis and recovery tool for disks and filesystems.
DFSee is a command-line and text-only utility (no GUI). This allows usage from simple boot-diskettes for recovery. The package includes an OS/2, Win-NT and DOS version.

Details can be found at: http://www.fsys.demon.nl/dfsee.htm
Version 4.01 updates and fixes:
- Fixed trap on FAT32 partitions with a wrong system-type (like 06)
- Added QUERY items for disk-nr and partition-nr validation, version and registration details. (usefull from scripts)
- Enhanced DFSUNFD script to allow an all-sector scan and use of a specified custom geometry when BIOS defaults are incorrect.
Registering DFSee will give you the right to use all 4.xx versions and get support plus a reasonable amount of assistance by email.
But even more important, it enables further development of DFSee!
I would very much like to hear about experiences you have with DFSee, either positive or negative. Contact: dfsee@fsys.demon.nl

- Utility that will convert an existing Merlin Convenience Pak based OS/2 installation to an eComStation GA 1.0 desktop - Filip Molčan (molcanf@os2.cz)
This utility will convert an existing Merlin Convenience Pak based OS/2 installation to an eComStation GA 1.0 desktop. It is only required for people who used CD #2 of eComStation to upgrade their eCS Preview 1, 2 or 3 or OS/2 Warp 4 to eComStation code base version 1.0. With this tool you will be able to install the eCS BonusPak applications, get the improved eCS desktop and more.
This will require approximately 60 MB of additional diskspace on your boot drive.
You should run this tool after the installation of eCS CD #2 has finished.
When you invoke it, please make sure it detects your CD-drive and bootdrive correctly (it will present the detected drives). If it doesn't you can pass the driveletters as parameters to the program like this:
CONVERT.EXE targetdrive cddrive (It could look like CONVERT C E for example)
When you are sure the letters are correct you can proceed by pressing the [OK] button.
After all files have been copied to your harddrive, you will be requested to reboot, please make sure you do, since it will finish only after running Phase 3 from WiseMachine.
When your computer has booted, WiseMachine will start and prompt you to register. If you do not register at this time, you will need to manually start WiseMachine and run Phase 3 from it, once you *do* register.
If registration succeeds, you will see the desktop being updated to the eComStation look and feel. It will preserve objects which you may have put on your desktop in the meantime.
After the desktop build completes, you will see 'eCSGuides' that will enable you to install the several BonusPak, eCS BonusPak and Third Party applications.
You can restart one of these eCSGuides later by starting WiseMachine, choose the menu option Utility - Selective Install - eCS Additional Applications
!!! This tool is not required if you installed eComStation from CD #1, you will have all features available allready when you did !!!
