S20

Type:

FM synthesis (?)

Chipset:

OPTi 928, Crystal Semiconductor

CD-ROM:

??

Street price:

??

OS/2 Drivers:

Available

Drivers from:

OS/2 ftp: 929_v2.zip or opti928.zip

Comments:

This board uses the OPTi 928 and a Crystal Semiconductor chipsets. The most detailed information I have on this board indicates that it works mostly with either driver set, but some feature (VTD or CD Audio) fail to work with one driver or the other.

AW32 Pro

Type:

FM synthesis (?)

Chipset:

Crystal Semiconductor 4236

CD-ROM:

??

Street price:

~$50

OS/2 Drivers:

Available

Drivers from:

OS/2 box, OS/2 ftp, Crystal Semiconductor's web site

Comments:

This is one of several boards based on the Crystal Semiconductor 4236 chipset. As such, it should work well under OS/2, including having full-duplex support and OS/2 sound when a Windows program is running when used with the latest drivers (but see the section on Crystal Semiconductor chipsets for details).

AW35

Type:

Wavetable (?)

Chipset:

Crystal Semiconductor

CD-ROM:

??

Street price:

~$50

OS/2 Drivers:

Available

Drivers from:

OS/2 box, OS/2 ftp, Crystal Semiconductor's web site

Comments:

This is Acer's latest sound board. Like the AW32, it's based on one of the popular Crystal Semiconductor chipsets. I've not seen much about it under OS/2, however.
