Objectives

SECTION 1 - INTRODUCTION AND PRODUCT OVERVIEW

   Define the functions and advantages of the domain concept and single system image.
   Identify the machine types and roles in an OS/2 Warp Server environment.
   Describe the DCDB contents and function.
   Identify and describe the functions of the OS/2 Warp Server and OS/2 Warp Server Advanced components.

SECTION 2 - NETWORK SERVICES

   Describe the function and list the ways to start, stop, pause or continue OS/2 Warp Server network services.
   Describe the implications of stopping and starting critical services.

SECTION 3 - DEFINING USERS AND GROUPS

   Identify and describe the different types of users in an OS/2 Warp Server domain.
   Create and change the default security settings for OS/2 Warp Server users.
   Use a template to create a group using the graphical user interface (GUI).
   Create a user using the graphical user interface (GUI).
   Add a user to a group using the graphical user interface (GUI).

SECTION 4 - SHARING, USING AND CONTROLLING ACCESS TO NETWORK AND CROSS DOMAIN RESOURCES

   Identify how to use the graphical user interface (GUI) and command line to create netnames and temporary connections.
   Identify how users access and how an administrator can create an alias for cross domain resources.

SECTION 5 - HOME DIRECTORIES

   Use the OS/2 Warp Server GUI to create logon drive assignments.
   Use the OS/2 Warp Server GUI to create user home directories.
   Identify how to monitor home directory usage and generate alerts when home directory size exceeds imposed ranges.

SECTION 6 - DEFINING APPLICATIONS

   Use the graphical user interface (GUI) to create an alias for an application.
   Use the graphical user interface (GUI) to give a group read, write and execute access to an application resource.

SECTION 7 - PRINTING IN AN OS/2 WARP SERVER LAN ENVIRONMENT

   Identify how printer objects, printer queues, printer spooling aliases, and logon assignments are used to define a shared printer.
   Identify how to create a printer object on a requester machine.
   Identify how to print a job remotely from a requester machine.

SECTION 8 - STATISTICS AND LOGS

   Given a problem, identify steps to isolate and correct the problem using statistics and logs.

SECTION 9 - LAN DOMAIN BACKUP AND RECOVERY TASKS

   Identify the three types of backup procedures used in an OS/2 Warp Server environment.
   Identify OS/2 Warp Server critical files and their functions.
   Identify how to configure a server to act as a backup domain controller.
   Identify how to recover OS/2 Warp Server domain operations after a domain controller failure.

SECTION 10 - REMOTE ACCESS ADMINISTRATION

   Identify Remote Access administrator, security administrator, and user and describe their capabilities and restrictions.
   Describe how logical adapter address and user account is used and created in an OS/2 Warp Server Remote Access environment.
   Describe the capture concept and how an audit trail can be maintained in an OS/2 Warp Server Remote Access environment.
   Identify bridge and filter functions and techniques in an OS/2 Warp Server Remote Access environment.

SECTION 11 - BACKUP, RECOVERY AND DISASTER RECOVERY IN AN OS/2 WARP SERVER ENVIRONMENT

   Identify how to use the OS/2 Warp Server graphical user interface (GUI) to specify source, rulebook, filter and media to implement backup and recovery using OS/2 Warp Server Backup and Recovery features.
   Identify how to create disaster recovery diskettes and perform basic recovery functions in an OS/2 Warp Server Backup and Recovery environment.

SECTION 12 - OS/2 WARP SERVER SYSTEM MANAGEMENT (SYSTEMVIEW)

   Identify OS/2 Warp Server Inventory Management tools and how they are used to maintain hardware and software inventories.
   Identify how to discover and manage systems in an OS/2 Warp Server system group.
   Identify OS/2 Warp Server SystemView Serial Control hardware requirements and capabilities.
   Describe the purpose of the OS/2 Warp Server SystemView error condition log and how to view and clear it.
