The big icons that come with ArcaOS are not a complete folder set.  First I tested the folder color.  The light blue to me just wasn't a good color choice.  I did this.

Resized the folder to 80x80 from 128x1128
Darkened the blue just a small amount
Took out the opcacity and came up with the color I used.
Added lots and lots of folders

Made a new desktop background to go with the blue folders.

Hi David, some beautiful art work.
Would it be possible to do some of your boot logos, or just a simple ArcaOS logo as a 128x128, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced? This to use with the rEFInd boot manager, which currently uses os_unknown.png for ArcaOS.
Thanks

Hi Dave

I made two test images. I have no way to test.

The first is 128x128 8 bit

The second is 800x600 8 bit.

Not sure if they are not interlaced.  I checked the internet and I could find no good way to check.  If you test, back up the original. and have another partition available to where you can boot to enable you to replace the logo is it fails to boot.

Thanks, this is close to what I meant. Using file to identify the file (yum install file), I see
Code: [Select]
U:\EFI\BOOT\icons>file os_unknown.png
os_unknown.png: PNG image data, 128 x 128, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced

Z:\Mozprofiles\Downloads>file arlogo128.png
arlogo128.png: PNG image data, 128 x 128, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced

Is the A in RGBA for transparency?
rEFInd is a UEFI boot manager, runs before OS/2 and quite capable of loading AOS 5.1, or rather OS2LDR.EFI
Here's a screenshot form their webpage, http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/,
I'll have to reboot to test it. I take it you're fine with me trying to get the rEFInd maintainer to include it in the distribution?

Dave

I made a couple of transparent ArcaOS logos for the rEFInd boot manager in case you want to see what they look like.

Hi Devid

Nice logo.  You got my vote. I am glad to see others with good ideas contributing.

I modified yours a little bit and came up with this.  I then added the pngs to Dave's example to see what each looks like.

Here  is my present desktop on one of my ArcaOS partitions.

I made me some red folders for system setup and its subfolders.

System folders are black except for the setup folders.

Program folders are yellow.

Network folders are green.
