Hardware Compatibility Wishlist for 2023

I remember we discussed this on January of 2022.

This was the discussed wishlist at it's time, in not any specific order:

- Audio and Camera support for a Videoconference tool.
- Bluetooth support for Keyboard and Mouse.
- GPT support for large disks.
- 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express.
- Intel Wifi support.
- Dual Screen Support
   - Intel HD dual screen support. (To mirror screen or extend screen)
   - Easier Hot plug to projectors. (To mirror screen or extend screen)
- Hibernate support for PCs  / Laptops.
- Standby support for PCs  / Laptops.

Is there anything else that changed for 2023?
Do you think something was missing or the priorities on hardware support had changed on this year?
Anything else to add?

I use a TV as a monitor and it only has HDMI support and no way to attach from audio out. The computer only has VGA. I found a VGA to HDMI adapter. The adapter also has UBS audio. Using the AN USB audio driver I have sound through the TV speakers and have up to 1920x1440 (1920x1080 is it standard res) resolution using panorama.

Ethernet 2.5 GB support does not depend onf the network stack. That is more related to getting a driver for such a chipset ported by AN.
The question is if the TCP/IP stack will provide the performance people would be expecting. Based on the 1 GB experience on some systems I do not
think 2.5 GB performance will be achieved on OS/2.

Audio and Camera support we already have. BWW ported last December 2021 (Lars did that) DLL's for webcames to work. And Wim Brul also has a DLL.  Code needs to be written so QT can communication with these DLL's.

Other items I do not know the status.

For me at least, the 2.5GB support is so that I can use a specific motherboard with AOS. The 2.5gb ethernet is the only ethernet provided, and it's a mini pc so it's not like I can just throw a NIC into the machine..

There's a good chance that David could add support for the adapter, it would take a ticket and testlog and the hope that it is supported in the stack he is porting.

There's no ticket, but David is aware of the adapter and has it on his list. BSD supports it already.

I didn't get this one, since I only have 1920x1080 monitors or less.
Do you mean that in Panorama there is missing some configuration for higher resolutions? or custom resolutions? Is there any resolution number that is giving you problems?

...but then you'd be missing 1920x1200 (WUXGA Resolution), which is a pretty standard resolution for the taller displays.

Here is what I would propose instead (as far as just the higher resolutions go):

1) HD (720p) - 1280 x 720
2) HD (1080p) - 1920 x 1080
3) WUXGA - 1920 x 1200
4) 2K - 2560 x 1440
5) WQHD - 2560 - 1440
6) HD - 3840 x 2160
7) 4K - 3840 x 2160
5K - 5120 x 2880

With Panorama the resolutions displayed is (a subset?) from what is read from the list the BIOS offers. On modern systems it depends on the attached monitor and the interface you choice (DP, HDMI, DVI, RGB). My current system shows all your wished resolutions and a few more. Except 1920x1440. Currently I also do not see 1920x1200. But I run this system for years with 1920x1200 (different monitor, integrated graphic) before I switched to 3840x2160 (separate graphic card and new monitor).

which basically says Neil is wanting a real full graphic chip driver instead Panorama/Bios. For us this would mean reanimating SNAP. But I fear this is not achievable in the near future :-(

Your list plus 1920x1080 as that is what I currently use on my Arca/Os machines, as its the highest resolution my TrendNet KVM Supports. I drive a ViewSonic 32" at that resolution. I'm pretty sure that the ViewSonic will do better, but alas thats all my KVM will pass and I really don't want to have 4 monitors/Keyboards on my desk. 1 set of each is so much more convenient

Open a ticket to be certain and attach a testlog. A ticket has less change of getting lost... I think David his list of todo items is extremely long...
