warpin problem
« on: May 15, 2025, 03:56:27 pm »
I have a problem using warpin.
when i click on a package to install it, I get an error message "warpin cannot be executed".
I tried to reinstall warpin, but i get the message that another installation of warpin is already running, though it is not...

Hello

Is it an specific .wpi file, or you tried several and everyone gives you the same error?
Is ArcaOS, right? Did you try with the Ctrl+Alt+Del and go to Top to see the processes running, maybe WarpIn is there? Did you get the same error after a reboot?

no, it's all wpi-files...

It seems to be impossible to reinstall warpin.

I deleted ini-entry, deleted the whole previous warpiin-folder.

There's definately no other warpin runnung, but the installation process claims there is and leaves me only the option to terminate ...

Is it maybe because ANPM is using warpin?

yes, it's newest AN. I looked at TOP, but could not see any warpin there...    rebooted several times. problem resists

I think you're going to have to contact Alex about finding the lock, or examine the source code.

Hi andreas

Maybe the Warpin Install routine checks the existing C:\sys\install\WARPIN\DATBAS_C.INI file to see if Warpin is already installed (replace C with correct drive letter for your system). If that is the case deleting the Warpin entries from that file using Ini Editor from INI Tools, or any other ini file editor, should allow Warpin to be reinstalled.

OS2.INI seems to have the PATH to warpin stored here. Fire up regedit2 and look close to the end of HINI_USER_PROFILE for the Warpin entry. Here it shows the expected W:\sys\install\warpin

once i found an entry in os2.ini. I deletd that one.
My trials to reinstall warpin didn't lead to a new entry there.
But regedit2 shows the right entry (same as yours).

I just tried to deinstall warpin via ANPM. the entry in ANPM was deleted. As i tried to reinstall warpin the entry reappleared there, though  - as always -
installation process terminated, since it is assumed there is another instance of warpin runnung....

Hi andreas

Have you tried running H:\sys\install\WARPIN.CMD (change H to match your system) - may need the /R parameter and your AN install media loaded.
