Am I really the only one?

No, you're not.
I'm using it for both personal and business, and if we had a working browser and odbc (dBase) driver it would be nearly perfect.

Not at my system right now, but found this:

If you're able to edit config.sys you could have chkdsk running on the next boot.
The following is from the IBM help-file:

-----
 IFS Command: /AUTOCHECK Parameter

Specifies the drives that the operating system checks at startup time to determine if the file system associated with a drive is in an inconsistent state. A file system could be in an inconsistent state when files were left open. This can happen when:

The computer was turned off without selecting the Shut down choice from the menu of the desktop.

Electrical power to the computer was interrupted.

The OS/2 operating system runs the CHKDSK program with the /F option to correct any problem caused by improper system shutdown. Each time you format a drive for the High Performance File System, the operating system updates the IFS statement in the CONFIG.SYS file with the appropriate AUTOCHECK parameter.

If you place a plus sign (+) in front of any drive letter, the drive will be checked every time the system is started.

Assume the following statement appears in the CONFIG.SYS file:

IFS=C:\OS2\HPFS.IFS /C:64 /AUTOCHECK:D+EF

Each time it starts, the operating system checks drives D, E, and F. If necessary, it runs the CHKDSK program on drives D and F. CHKDSK will always be run on drive E.

To me it looks like it runs a single win-program, Firefox, on the OS/2 desktop.

Setup & Installation / Re: AOO4.11.1/Firefox/Seamonkey trouble
« on: June 08, 2023, 03:31:13 pm »
Somewhat embarrassing, but ..... I installed AOO from a directory with lots of zip and wpi files and the installation program found the file AOO-41110-GA-rpm.wpi which resulted in downgrading lots of dll's in usr\lib.  Used ANPM to update the libs mentioned in the readme.txt and the errors seem to be gone.

I always get the errors when opening existing files.

Creating and saving a new spreadsheet works but reopening the new file generates the error "Not all attributes could be read".

Opening a text documents gives "General error". Creating a new text document and trying to save it also results in "General error",
still the document is saved and I can reopen it but get the general error.

In addition to the "Not all attributes could be read" when opening spreadsheets I also get "General error" when opening text documents.
Noticed that someone had the same problem with LibreOffice and installing another version fixed the problem.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72781

As far as I can see OpenOffice 4.1.11 is the latest GA-version for OS/2.

Any suggestions?

After updating libstdc++ there are no more SYS2070's in popup.log, (and Firefox/Seamonkey work again).

I've seen only one post about this issue;
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=68547
but he was running a beta version

Just noticed that I referred to AOO 4.11.1, should be 4.1.11 GA.

Somehow I got ANPM  running again and updated libstdc++ and both Seamonkey and Firefox now seem to work.

However, with OpenOffice I still get "Not all attributes could be read"

Firstly, google translation of your comment;
--
The DLL ICUUC.DLL cannot find a function in the DLL STDCPP6.DLL.
You will most likely have to install some legacy packages for one or both DLLs using yum/rpm. You may also need to use LIBPATH to ensure that the DLLs are loaded preferentially from certain directories.
You may also need to use LIBPATH to ensure that the DLLs are loaded preferentially from certain directories.
I forgot which package the icuuc DLL is in, you have to search around in the package contents.

Secondly, I now also have some problems with ANPM, tried to reinstall some packages nad ANPM simply closes without any message.

Entry in popuplog:
06-07-2023  16:17:15  SYS2070  PID 004b  TID 0001  Slot 0078
G:\TOOLS\ANPM\ANPM.EXE
STDCPP6->GCC1.___gthread_os2_mutex_lock
127

Don't really know where to go from here, believe I have to manually reinstall som packages, but which ones?

Setup & Installation / AOO4.11.1/Firefox/Seamonkey trouble
« on: June 07, 2023, 02:30:16 pm »
After installing AOO 4.11.1 I cannot start Firefox or Seamoneky.

Following from popup.log:

06-07-2023  14:11:58  SYS2070  PID 0031  TID 0001  Slot 007c
P:\SEAMONKEY\SEAMONKEY.EXE
ICUUC->STDCPP6.__ZNSt18condition_variableC1Ev
127

06-07-2023  14:12:01  SYS2070  PID 0032  TID 0001  Slot 007c
G:\PROGRAMS\FIREFOX\FIREFOX.EXE
ICUUC->STDCPP6.__ZNSt18condition_variableC1Ev
127

AOO writer/calc starts ok but when opening an existing spreadsheet I get the warning
"Not all attributes could be read"
After clicking ok on the warning the spreadsheet is displayed as normal.

Any ideas?

Programming / Re: SQL running total
« on: May 27, 2023, 06:51:41 pm »
Thanks for info, Doug.
I tried your SQL-statements using the drivers that are bundled with DBExpert, (from 1994) and it will not work.
Error message: "Mismatched parens". Have tried a number of variations with "(" and ")" but no success yet.
I will try some "evaluation" drivers as soon as I get the chance.
Nice to hear that your're working on a "database application". Right now I don't have the need to implement running totals through SQL.
since the Rexx script provided by Lars, in another post, works fine.
Anyway, I'm very interested your application and will be happy to test when it is ready for that.

In case someone is interested, this code works:

   reprows = 0

ok = VRMethod( "QRY_2", "MoveFirst" )
identifier = ''
sum = 0
do while( ok = 1 )
   call VRMethod "QRY_2", "RowData", "data."
   if data.1 <> identifier then do
   identifier = data.1
   sum = data.2

   end
   else do
   sum = sum + data.2
   end
   data.3 = sum

   reprows=reprows+1
   data.reprows.TEKSTFLT = data.1
   data.reprows.TALLFLT1 = data.2
   data.reprows.AKKUM = data.3

ok = VRMethod( "QRY_2", "MoveNext" )
end

data.0=reprows

DO i=1 TO data.0

END i

hwnd = VRGet( "Window1", "HWnd" )

rc=VpPrintReport(hwnd, 'REP_HBAKKM.vpt', 'data.', '<PREVIEW>' )
