Internet / Re: Simple Firefox Tab Tip
2009.04.28, 13:30:34
I have done that a bit different. I've added the following to the userchrome.css file:
/* Give the tabbar a scrollbar ********************************************************************/

.tabbrowser-strip /* .tabs-frame*/ {
display: block;
height: 56px !important ;
overflow: scroll !important;
overflow-y: hidden !important;
margin-left: -0.03em;}
.tabs-bottom-spacer {
display: none !important;}
.scrollbutton-up, .scrollbutton-down {
display: none !important;}

/*------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*/

This gives the tabbar a scrollbar which I can move right and left very easy. This is for FF version 2.x, I believe it does work for FF 3.x too, but I haven't tried it yet.
I too have "Tab Mix Plus" installed, but I can't remember if it's necessary for it to work.

OS2 Petition / Re: VLC Player for OS/2
2009.02.20, 15:57:59
Here is the FM for mplayer, its about 100 pages or so ?

The configfile I use with mplayer, which works fine for me is:

# Write your default config options here!
##
## MPlayer input control file
##
nocache=1
user-agent=NSPlayer/4.1.0.3856
vo=kva:dive
autosync=90
sid=16
slang=1
ni=1

Not sure where that user-agent thingy came from, but it seems to do the job, at least it doesn't hurt.

You also need to tell OS/2 where to find mplayer in the config.sys, specially if you want the Mozilla plugin to work :

SET MPLAYER_PATH=X:\Applications\Mplayer\mplayer.exe
SET MPLAYER_HOME=X:\HOME\DEFAULT\.mplayer

Nice.  :)
I'll have to try this in the weekend, when I have more time.
You made a little mistake on your website though.
You unzip tor to e:\tor but then you talk about making a WPS icon with the path of c:\tor

Thanks for sharing, and I have to check out the rest of your site. Looks good, and I hadn't seen it before although I regularly search the net for OS/2 or eCS sites.

Hi David,

If you install lswitcher in the ecenter you'll get a desktop button like under Windows, minimizing all programs and folders that is.
Lswitcher is a replacement for the build in window list. So if you want to use Lswitcher it is best to remove the build in window list. Contrary to what is says when you want to delete it, you can put it back in eCenter after a reboot, or maybe even after a restart of either eCenter or the Desktop.
Not sure if it does this by default, but you'll have to check under the Miscellaneous Tab : 'Switching to desktop minimizes/hides' for it to work like under Windows.

What the other David suggested is also very handy, but that only closes all open folder views, it won't close or minimize your programs. I use that myself a lot, but I have placed an icon for it in the ecenter. Binding it to a screen border might be handy, but I'm afraid it will cause some unwanted closures of folders if you hit that part of the screen unintended.

Don't know about your second question, sorry.

Quote from: Ipinommmm... there was no DHCP tab on Local system ---> Install/remove ---> Post-installation Tasks

Well there is here.  :)

Change the DHCP start wait time to 0 (zero) seconds.
This way it won't wait for it at startup but still wil keep trying to connect, invisible in this case.

To change this : Local system ---> Install/remove ---> Post-installation Tasks ---> Tab DHCP

I haven't tried it myself, but maybe the Squint extension is what you are looking for :

Quote from: SquintNoSquint allows you to adjust the default text zoom level, which is useful if you have a small display or run at a very high resolution. NoSquint also optionally remembers the zoom level per domain.

Get Squint here.

In firefox : click the download link with the right mouse button, select "Save as..", and select a folder where you want to download it.
Then in Thunderbird go to Tools --> Add-ons and click "Install", select the folder where you saved the file before with firefox and click "OK".

Yes it certainly helps.  :D

I only changed LMANNOUNCE from 0 to 1, rebooted and then it worked.
Thank you very much for this, I never expected it to be this simple.

I new it had to be a Windblows "problem" because when booted in eCS on my laptop I could see it from my desktop without a problem, but I couldn't see my laptop when booted in XP. The other way around wasn't a problem of course.

Indeed it did, and it is looking mighty nice too.  ;D

At the top of the posts part of this window there are a few buttons :

REPLY | NOTIFY | MARK UNREAD | SEND THIS TOPIC | PRINT

Clicking on NOTIFY should do what you want.  :)

I definitely think this forums tops the previous one, but it is missing a Home button that directly links to the os2world.com homepage IMHO.
