Anyone managed to install eCS to a drive with Vista preloaded and got it working with boot manager?
Read somewhere that it's possible using Vista's boot manager, but I'd prefer using the one coming with eCS.

There is another way to avoid dual booting:

[1]  For eCS (guest) and Vista (host) - you might consider the free Virtual PC 2007...

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/virtualpc/default.mspx

[2]  Caveat - You will need more than 512 ram - Try 1-2 gigs at newegg.com.

P.S.:  For Vista "under the hood" - Vista Rewired "tips & tricks" has been helpful...

Sure, but my (our) main systems are eCS and OS2 and I won't run them in VPC.
What about a third party boot manager?

http://air-boot.netlabs.org/    ???  There was mention of Airboot being used (other parts of the forum?).  8)

The OS/2 Bootmanager need an OS/2 MBR code.

See

Vista need it own BMR code to work

Here is a source about the Vista boot process and BMR usage

Windows Vista no longer starts after you install an earlier version of
the Windows operating system in a dual-boot configuration

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919529/EN-US/

Currently I do not know  a source  for MBR code, that do the required steps to OS/2 and Vista both.

The only a very, very limited workaround is to install OS/2 within the 1024 Cly limit of the HDD.

Kind regards
