Hello All,

I am happy to say that I was able to listen in (Audio only; and, no Video  8) ) all the way from New York City earlier today on some of the presentations at the OS/2-eCS Developers' Workshop 2008 being held in Germany after successfully downloading the OGGCODECS for Windows.

Best wishes for the conclusion of a successful OS/2-eCS Developers' Workshop 2008!  ;)

Regards.

Hi SAB

I had a go at trying to listen in several times following the wiki instructions and got "cannot connect to server" every time  :-(

Maybe I should have looked for the OGGCODECS for Windows...

Hi Pete;

I have just had a check of the link that was provided earlier and this was the result:

QuoteThe file you requested could not be found

The conclusion is that they are presently not on line and would most likely be back up again tomorrow. How about giving it another shot starting out at the attached link at the scheduled starting time of the day's events:

http://wiki.netlabs.org/index.php/Developers_Workshop_2008#Live_Stream_of_Presentations

and be sure to download both the dws.ogg and the oggcodecs files. Actually, I was able to listen in "via an Ogg Vorbis stream" using Windows Media Player and after a second try at launching the dws.ogg program.  8)

The best of luck to you when you try again.

Regards.

Sab...

  Are you using mPlayer in a browser? I couldn't get that to work - the codec is missing? I was able to get it working using an Audio-Stream object though.

  Makes me wonder if there are other codecs mPlayer could use that are missing from the suggested codec archive...

well, the event just ended. I was able to hear some presetations over the streamming.

If anybody have pictures of the event we can post them on the OS2World.com Gallery.

The presentations files are available on the netlabs wiki.

Hi Dave;

I was using Windows Media Player Ver. 11 which from all appearances runs as a "stand alone" application; and, a separate download was required to obtain, install and run the required "Ogg Codecs" files. All the instructions (alternative methods for accessing the presentations "via an Ogg Vorbis stream" could have been found by following the links provided by "NetLabs".

In any case, now that the 2008 OS/2-eCS Developers' Workshop has ended it would great if by the time of the next Developers' Workshop (or even by the time of WarpStock 2008) there can be greater/further enhancements to the Ogg Codecs for the purposes of "live streaming" with the possibilities of its adaptation for business application usage; and, that is if this is not already being done.

Best regards.

SAB

Hola Martin,

I was there on Sunday and took some pictures for the Warpstock Europe website (WSE will be held in the same youth hostel as the DWS) and can offer to upload... it's not that much though. But can you create an album / subfolder for it? I don't know where to put it. How about creating an "events" folder with
- warpstock (US)
- warpstock (EU)
- developer workshop
- other
and appropriate edition subfolders (like warpstock eu -> wse2006, 2007...) ? Just an idea.
Anyway let me know where to upload the stuff.

Thanks, regards,
Thomas
