Synergy for OS/2?

  Hi there,

This weekend a friend of mine show me a very nice program for those
using more than one computer at the same time: Synergy.
Synergy is client-server software that allows one to use multiple
machines with the same mouse and keyboard, exchanging between
computers just like they were virtual desktops.
It is available for Windows, Mac and Linux and I was thinking if
someone had already tried to port it. I downloaded it and tried to
build with Paul's environment, but the software thought it was
running on Linux and complained about non-existent XLib
capabilities.

 For those interested:  http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/

HI Daniel.

Does it requires several monitors right ? Like You have two computer with two monitors and you manage both with a single mouse and keyboard. Am I right ?

Hi Martin,

That's what it appears to want and would be ideal for the setup I have at my desk - three computers each with their own monitor but only one keyboard and mouse (trackball) connected to them with a KVM switch.

Hi all,
I am a heavy user of Synergy at work (two computers and two monitors there, using only one keyboard and mouse).
I have here a build of Synergy for OS/2 that I found IIRC on Netlabs. The file is named synergybart.zip.
I am recompressing it with 7zip (otherwise it would be too big to attach it here) and attaching it.
I have never used this OS/2 port though.

Hope this helps
Bye
Cris

Exactly! It is perfect for those working with multiple computers at the same time...
like me, right now... :)

The port was done by Knut.  The code is available in the libc svn.  I've built it and used it quite a bit here.  The only problem is that only the client is built for OS/2 and not the Server side.  I spent a bit of time trying to get the server going but wasn't up to the challenge.  Bart was also working on it and I think that is the file here.  He got further than I did, it will at least connect but the server part is still not functional.  Unfortunately, Bart is now using Linux (Ubuntu I think) and isn't on OS/2 anymore so nothing more expected from him.

Andy, can you be a bit more specific about where the code is?  Although I'm not a programmer I do have friends that were before they retired and it might give them something to do while they wait for the grape crop to mature.  You never know, we might be able to get it working.

The code is here:
http://svn.netlabs.org/libc/browser/trunk/synergy
Main page:
http://svn.netlabs.org/libc
I pulled the entire libc codebase.... very big:
svn co http://svn.netlabs.org/repos/libc/trunk
might be able to do:
svn co http://svn.netlabs.org/repos/libc/trunk/synergy
not sure how kbuild would handle.

Thanks Andy, got it all.

I'm seeing them tomorrow to check over some of their equipment so I'll take a spare USB HD with it on as well - then it will be wait and see.
