How do I set up my internet(cable) DNS?
How do I find the IP address of my laptop?
How do I set up TCPIP--if I need it?

You guys are great.

Hi Dennis,

since we've lost the previous stuff (and some nice posts...) here's a quick ramp-up:
If you recall what we have done before, please forget about it. As mentioned in the other thread
http://www.os2world.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,63/topic,202.msg507/#msg507
run the sniffer tool (pci104vka) first to see if we actually are using the correct driver for the built-in nic (and post the result  ;) here or in the other thread...).

BTW:
Getting a bootable linux on cd will mean either Knoppix which comes as a 600 megs+ ISO file image download or a cut-down distro (which I sometimes use in emergency cases at customers) named "Inside security". This is a ready-to-run linux bootable cd which contains file system drivers of various types and also a copy of clam-av (antivirus). More info at http://www.inside-security.de/insert_en.html
It comes as a 60 megs (approx.) download, also as ISO image file.
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=99853&package_id=107233&release_id=489669
(Obviously, the "_en" version of the ISO is for you...)

If you don't have clue how to make a CD from an ISO file - we'll talk about that later once your system is up and running, I don't think we need that CD (or any other) right now...

Regards,
Thomas
