I received a Bounty Suggestion from Phil.

OpenVRML http://www.openvrml.org

FreeWRL http://freewrl.sourceforge.net/

Both contain a plugin for Firefox that let it interact with both VRML and X3D code in Web pages to get 3-D rotation, zoom, etc., of encoded objects.

If it becomes a bounty, I'll contribute USD 100.

The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, formerly NBS) recently made the first update of the classic Handbook of Special Functions by Abramowitz and Stegun since its original publication in 1952. It now comes as a printed book, as before, and also as a Web Site requiring either VRML or X3D to manipulate the graphs.

The Handbook has been the bible for generations of engineers and other users of applied mathematics. The new Web edition provides all users with a completely interactive interface that was never possible with printed handbooks.
I find [in mathematics] a wonderful beauty. This is no science, this is art, where equations fall away to elements like resolving chords, and where always prevails a symmetry either explicit or multiplex, but always of a crystalline serenity.---Turjan of Miir (Jack Vance)
