Hi to all

Problem:  Lost USB mouse, lost ability to see usb scanner,usb printer.
both have worked on this machine in past.  (Can see usb mass storage devices)

On recent re install of ecm 20 ga, could not  get acpi to accept any
switch except /smp, computer seem to work ok.  rmview /irq reveled irq 10
was shared btwn sound (hda nvida) and ohci compliant host controller .
A couple of tries later, accepted,  /smp/apci, why??   sound went to irq 21
and works,  lost reference to irq 10 and ohci usb host controller .
normally rmview  /irq would report 2 ohci and 2 ehci controller, now
only 1 ohci and 2 ehci.
Any help, suggestions, ideas would be greatly appreciated

Best regards
Phil Ryan

Hi Phil

Sounds like you only have 1 OHCI driver line in the config.sys file. You may find USBcfg -  http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/system/USBcfgb071-eCS-only.wpi - helpful in showing your current usb configuration.

I downloaded and installed usb config file and found the following;
under sys tab uhci 0, ohci 2 controllers available and 2 ohci drivers installed
2 ehci controllers available and 2 ehci drivers installed
under resorce manager shows 1device plugged in (Ibelieve this
to be the usb hub), no other devices listed, same for run usb dock
Rmview /irq reports same, only 1 ohci controller assigned an irq  irq 18
config.sys file shows 2 basedevice=2ohcd.sys and 2 basedevice=ehcd.sys

Hi Phil

I see you are using /APIC with an nVidia chipset.

Which nVidia chipset? and which version of ACPI?

There is an effort to update USB controller drivers currently and it may be worth trying the most recent builds to see if they overcome the problem - although I tend to suspect an ACPI problem as you say 1 OHCI controller simply seems to go "missing" when the system has booted. The updated usb drivers are here  http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/system/drivers/misc/usbxhcd7.zip

Something else to think about: USb hubs do not show up in Resource Manager or USB Dock so what USB device(s) did you have attached?

pete:
using ACPI 3.18
ACPI wizard suggested parameters  /SMP /APIC
APM support enabled
I downloaded USBHXCD7 and installed (no help)
NVIDIA HDA chipset, don't know if this is correct but found MPC67
Device 0531h
C67(Gforce 7150M /Nforce630M)
Short of reinstalling OS, I removed the  /APIC switch in config.sys file
and every thing returned to normal.
rmview /irq now shows a slightly rearranged irq assignment
but all controllers now appear
