Which FTP client? And for what purpose? There are easier ways than cli which will provide ALL of the same capabilities and TONS more.

Hi

ftp clients??:-

FTP-PM in the internet utilities folder.

Want something newer and use either Firefox or Seamonkey? - give fireftp a try; it is an extension for Mozilla browsers. The Firefox version is here http://fireftp.mozdev.org/ Seamonkey version here http://xsidebar.mozdev.org/modifiedmisc.html#fireftp

And if you specifically need something that is controllable/scriptable as the CLI version is, look into the RxFTP libraries. MUCH more powerful and not too difficult to set up for direct scripting or as a controllable CLI app.

thank you all...

I just managed to find the nftp , a bit old (not supported anymore, has free registration), works like charm!

@Pete sadly the the FTP-PM  has no support for passive mode, as I see...(unless there is some .ini option that i don't know)

cheers

Hi xchris

Sorry, Looks like I got that wrong - don't use ftp often and when I do it is usually fireftp.

NetDrive come with FTP and support for passive mode.

SecureFtp:

FtpBrowser:

http://www.os2notes.com/files/ftpbr171.zip

and look in:

Templates => Internet Templates => 'FTP host'

'FTP host' is pretty sweet, I update my site that way!

gap

The standard FTP client from IBM does not know passive mode or >2GB files.

I have a proprietary FTP version (written by me) which runs in batch mode and does passive and >2GB files
using Java. It was a large project. It is in use on Linux, Windows and eComstation. (other platforms are also used.)

At the current time it is not open to use outside my company (Corvedia.com) because we sell internet communications
using our own data protocol which is far better.
