Bulk Data Encryption based hard disks

Quick question if anyone within this forum have managed to get their hands on the new Hitachi disk that offers Bulk Data Encryption (BDE)? Asking since I'm currently evaluating several whole disk encryption software based solutions such as PGP WDE, SafeGuard Easy, SecureDoc, etc.?

Sorry I don't have a new Hitachi but it's nice to hear you are evaluating software solutions right now.
When I get myself a new 500 GB SATA drive I might take a look at CompuSec:

There are a lot of solutions available (CompuSec, Safeguard Easy, Securedoc, Safeboot, Drivecrypt) but I have no idea which one does work with eCS and it's LVM.
I would still prefer a hardware based solution like the eNova stuff (e.g. W-Wall MX which is using AES) because it's totally software independent and the encryption/decryption is done in hardware which doesn't slow down the computer.

I would say that none of the mentioned software works with eCS due to that most full disk encryption software usually patches the kernel. So actually the BDE solution is the best one available that will support what ever OS you run; no software or drivers. The only limit with BDE is that you need to have a supported system; among other the BIOS needs to have a hard drive password feature; such as the ThinkPads has. So most ThinkPad sold within 2 years range will support this technology.

Kind of curious how this will affect the vendors of FDE software. The closest that we could have is a port of TrueCrypt which there also is a bounty for.
