Just a tip. Some of you have already thought of this and some not. I am new to Android phones, and since some weeks have a quite cheap Samsung Galaxy Mini. At the moment USB connection doesn't work with eCS and I don't dare to add LVM info to the phone and SDcard. This may make it work or not work at all.

However there are free Samba Client programs, where I found AndSMB to work nicely. So I shared my picture and music directory on my computer with Samba server and the set up the Samba Client on Android to download to the proper directory on the phone. This worked very well and smooth, transfer speed was about 800kB/s which is really good I think.

There is also a Samba server available but then your phone has to be "rooted". I found that a bit complicated and risky so I skipped it. I also tried AndFtp which also work fine!

By the way I also tried Print Bot (price about 3 euro), which supports a lot of printers and protocols. Now printing to my lpr printer.

And another method:
-Install Peter Moylan's FTPd on the Warp/eCS machine
-Install AndFTP on your phone (side note, check out the plethora of plugins)

The free version probably will support anyone's needs, though the Pro version adds some neat features such as folder sync.

I use FTP to xfer to and from the phone all the time. Especially Wi-Fi connected, it works blazingly fast (as it also it does anywhere I have a good 4G connection or good Wi-Fi connection out of my office).

I've found FTP to be the "unsung hero" for many of my eCS/Warp data transfer needs.

Best,
Rob

You could also try ES-File-Explorer on your phone.  I use it on my tablet to connect to my FTP Server and also the NAS boxes which it does without any problems over WiFi.

It's great for us that mobile phones has passed the era of special "PC-suits" to connect and sync. Also the AndSMB has the possibility to sync folders.

The eCS Samba Client works nicely together with Samba Server on Android (on rooted phones). Rooting isn't a big deal and IMHO inevitable anyway ;-)
Kind regards,

And even better (for me) : AndFtp server on the Android. Extremely easy GUI. Just start and it setups the "entire telephone" on ftp. The just down/upload from e.g. FireFtp. Very easy and no "rooting" necessary.

I sadly have issue with FireFTP on older machines. JavaScript hangs too many times. We really need a good, preferably Rexx enabled, large file supporting FTP client for OS/2. :(

What do you think about netdrive with ftp plugin? I use it regularly since years.

I think that also Qshare is an alternative. http://www.zuzuf.net/qshare/index.php . No, this s rather an ftp server with the possibility to discover other qshare servers in a network - and share files.
