Arduino UNO on eComStation

  Hi there!

I have just bought an Arduino UNO board and started playing with it under Windows. For those that doesn´t know, it is an "open-source electronics prototyping platform". Not only that, it is *very* easy to use: http://www.arduino.cc/
The board is connected to the PC by USB port and the driver shows it as an COM port. The software is open source and is part Java based, part native C (source available: http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software ) and is available for MacOS X, Windows and Linux (both 32 and 64bit). Linux version seems to be just Java and some JNI .so to allow COM access. The software is a simple C compiler (GCC based, I believe) which is able to upload the program to Arduino board.

I was wondering if this kind of board will ever be usable under eComStation... :)

The problem is to find/develop a appropriate USBser.sys for the USB-device "Arduino".
For the userland software in the Arduino, you can use your favorite texteditor
to write JAVA od C Code. I have seen an AVR-Pack on Hobbes years ago. Since the Arduino uses an 8-bit AVR, you can still use this.
With the same Price Tag, you can get a similar system, where the USB Port ist substituted with Ethernet:

If you look more around, there is a Project called V-USB at
http://www.obdev.at/products/vusb/index.html
It works good, if you use Windows or Linux, But i have no success to drive anything from OS/2. I have tried Wim Bruls USB-driver, but failed.

This V-USB- Project might be a way to get a reliable solution for a long term availible USB2SER or USB2PAR Adapters. Nowadays, you cant buy any of the OS/2-supported USB2SER-adapters formerly availible form Belkin & Co.
If you know someone, who can code a driver, i can made the hardware project (PCBs, AVR-Firmware, Sets for homemade-Adapters with Parts, that are availible around the world in the next 5-10 years.).

Might be possible.

For the Arduino Uno see http://android.serverbox.ch/?p=427 on how to control it using my driver.

there is no word "eComstation" or "OS/2" there.
or REXX examples
is it correct link?

The link is correct. It gives information on what control transfers are required. Not how to do it with REXX on eComStation or OS/2 .

But may be the Arduino Uno can be accessed with

DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\USBCOM.SYS /M:1 /N:COM8 /V

in CONFIG.SYS and using the following command:

MODE COM8:9600,N,8,1
