Horizont Present Commander (HpCmd) is a DOS frontend similar to Norton Commander or FAR. In addition to the functions familiar to shells, HpCmd can format and copy floppy disks, while maintaining a very compact size (about 60Kb). With such a small size, HpCmd has the following features:
- Two-pane file manager with the ability to:
- selection of files by mask and the Ins key
- copying files with the ability to add to existing and splitting large files
- delete files
- creating sub directories
- Associating file types with programs with the ability to enter parameters "in place" in a pop-up dialog
- User menu for 20 positions
- History of entered commands
- Disk utilities
- total file search
- formatting floppy disks
- copying floppy disks to a file and vice versa as well as between themselves
- change disc label
- disk directory tree
- Best-of-breed built-in text editor:
- Unlike Norotovsky, perceives the number columns greater than 32768
- Unlike Volkov, he sees the entire file (> 4096)
- Unlike many, it normally edits binaries approaching 65520 bytes
- There is a built-in clipboard
- Keyboard works in both Borland and Microsoft mode (CtrlPGUP / PGDOWN & CtrlEND / HOME)
- Built-in calculator and ASCII table
- Built-in graphic viewer:
- PCX
- BMP (win, os2)
- TGA
- ICO (win, os2)
- TRL
- Ability to change the HpCmd color palette
- 16 supplied Commander skins
- external editor for coloring palettes
- the ability to load palettes in the shell itself from files
At the same time, HpCmd does not contain extra-fancy menus like DN, it works very quickly (during execution it can use the optimization capabilities for i386, but it also works on earlier processors). Currently, the development of HpCmd has been discontinued due to lack of time and funds, and the source code is open for revision and modification. HpCmd is written in Assembler and Turbo Pascal 7.0 without using Turbo Vision.
