General Comments
Report by Martin Iturbide
- It is required to disable Intel HyperThread and Secure Boot on the BIOS. BIOS and firmware were updated to latest version as 2023-12-06.
- The install procedure was normal using ArcaOS 5.1.0 with UEFI support.
- Network
- Even if you can not see the Ethernet port on this machine, it has a build in ethernet adapter. You require an special cable called "ThinkPad Ethernet Extension Adapter Gen 2" to have the ethernet port. When you install ArcaOS 5.1.0 it will recognize the device and install the E1000B.OS2 driver for it.
- Trackpoint
- Trackpoint has an issue. The "Trackpad" (Lenovo calls the "mousepad" a "Trackpad") works find and clicks fine. But on the Trackpoint, if I click the right left mouse button, it will produce a double click. I think it is my hand palm resting/pressing against the "Trackpad", if I raise my palm in a very uncomfortable way to don't touch it, the Trackpoint left click works as expected every time. On Windows the Trackpoint drivers (On this case made by ELAN) has the "Palmcheck" feature by software, I guess this is what we are missing on ArcaOS. My workarround was to disable the "Trackpad" in the BIOS.
- HDMI Video Output
- HDMI video output works only if you select on the BIOS "Boot Display Device = External Display". This will show in my case the AN Boot Manager, ArcaOS loading and later the desktop. It will not show ArcaOS on the Thinkpad display at the same time. If you power off, disconnect the external display, and boot again, the video will show back on the Thinkpad display.
- IMC Networks Integrated Camera
The integrated camera works when I tried the Arca's USB 12.16. I tried Wim Brul's UVC Webcam Server for OS/2 from 2024-01-01 and was able to see the webcam image. While I run webcam.exe I executed vmvideo.exe to see the image.
