SCC Song is an OS/2 Workplace Shell extension class that enables you to easily manage your song files - DAT, MID, MOD, MP3, MTM, S3M, SID, SMF and XM objects.
SCC Song makes it possible to categories and locate song files directly from your desktop. With SCC Song you can for instance specify which MP3's you prefer over others (Bad, Reasonable and Great!). You can also assign a song a category such as Rock, Pop or Techo - etc. You can then later locate a song based on given preference, category, artist etc. without having to learn anything new - just use the OS/2 Find functionality.
Currently the following song formats are either partly or fully supported.
- FastTracker 1.x and 2.x (MOD/XM)
- MPEG Audio Layer III (MP3)
- MultiTracker (MTM)
- PlaySID one-file format (DAT/SID)
- ProTracker (MOD)
- ScreamTracker 3.x (S3M)
- Standard Musical Instrument Digital Interface Format (MID/MIDI/SMF)
- StarTrekker (MOD)
- Additional Important Notes
- The information about each song is stored in the extended attributes. This take up some space.. approx. 300 bytes PER datafile object (song file). If the songs you are checking are located on a read-only media, such as a CD-ROM. Then the additional song info is stored in your user-ini file (normaly OS2.INI) which lead to more memory consumption and overall a slower system! This can be remedied with great tools like UniMaintence from GammaTech or WPTools by Henk Kelder.
