Jalmus is running but it does not sound.

http://www.jalmus.net/
"Jalmus is a free, open source music education software helping the musicians, specially pianists, to improve their sight-reading. You can train to read music with both exercises on notes or rhythms."

But the strange thing is that on OS2-eCs it does not show to install the "Java SoundBank" component, while in Windows it worked. Maybe it is a dependency on the Sun JRE or on the platform. Anybody with Linux with OpenJDK can try it ?

Jalmus DOES sound on my system, there is no installation of a Java Soundbank. From the packs.info I could lift this: "Soundbank is required for JRE install on Windows.ppt." Standard the prefs are on NO MIDI, so you may have to change it. This doesn't mean that this program hasn't troubles within eCS, its not totally OpenJDK proof, I get these errors which tells me so;

I was testing OmegaT, a Java translator tool, but I still can not find a way to translate the text. I need to read the manual to understand how to use it.

It's a CAT program, ie Computer Assisted Translation, or in other words, it don't translate for you, you have to translate yourself, but with this package it will assist you with already know words, ie your translation will be more consistent and you will not use different translations for one specific word. Is this handy? Sure, if you have to translate manuals, help files, the text which appears in your program, menu's etc. So You have to translate manual. There is a large set of help, introduction files etc. So, as ever, RTFM  and try before cry. Thanks for finding this tool.

I guess you mean a ticket to the developers of OpenJava. I'll try to submit the case. Still it's not very simple since it happens randombly without much error sign but a log that I could attach as evidence.

Thanks

diver

if it only happens in the os/2 port of OpenJDK you have to open the ticket at svn.netlabs.org/java
if it also happens on other os, it's a general problem. please check this first if possible.

I tried it, it seems that this is not a total package, there are some specific os related components. I won't load because its missing something which I can't find in the libs. Next you need at least 1Gb, so its very memory hungry. Deleted the package.

Discovered today Simple Image Editing Tool, works fine, no errors. SIET, the Simple Image Editing Tool, is a simple-to-use, handy and free application for such tasks as resizing, cropping, retouching, watermarking, etc... Batch processing is also provided. Download http://sourceforge.net/projects/siet/files/0.1.0/siet-0.1.0-linux.zip/download. This is the contents of my cmd file;

@echo off
set path=c:\JAVA160\bin
set BEGINLIBPATH=c:\JAVA160\bin
set CLASSPATH=
c:
cd c:\siet
java -Duser.home=c:\siet -jar lib/siet-launcher.jar

It uses your homedirectory with files and it has its own directory in the home directory.

Enclosed an icon for the program.

The linux version seems to use OpenJDK 6 to run. But Im not sure if it will run on OS/2-eCS.
It is supposed to load a http service on "http://localhost:8090"

I had been trying this two java mouse Android solutions.
The idea is that you install the java app on the host, and with an Android phone or tablet you control the mouse cursor connected to a Wifi network.

1) LoSoft RCServer
Seems to work the mouse pointer, but it moves in a strange way.
the mouse clicks do not work.
URL: http://rcserver.losoft.org/download/#Windows

2) RemoteDroid
Seems that it is not grabbing my IP to make the mouse.

Anyone with an Android device to test it on eCS is welcome.
