Processor maker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) on November 14 announced that it will lay off 2,000 employees, or 15% of its workforce, by the end of the second quarter of 2003 in an effort to lower its break-even point. The company estimated that with the job cut, it would be able to reduce its expenses by US$350 million in 2003.
