UN wary of US influence on the Internet
Following on the heels of the US government's announcement that they intend to retain control over the root DNS system, the UN has released a report which challenges the US's dominant role in all things Internet. This is nothing new: the UN has banged on America's door before, but in 2003 the discussion of control was tabled for 2005. Now the Working Group on Internet Governance has released their report, setting the stage for another round in the fight over who best controls the administration of the 'net.
