An Intel official has confirmed that there's a shortage of Sonoma chipsets - which may well explain why machines using the premier semiconductors are so hard to find in the wild.

Jerry Kao, from Intel Asia, told a Taipei Times reporter that there is a shortage but that things are gradually improving.
