VIA Technologies recently launched a new motherboard, the P4PB Ultra, for the Pentium 4-platform market. Adopting the company's P4X400 chipset, the P4PB Ultra is able to support the AGP 8x standard as well as the Hyper-Threading technology used in Intel's P4 processors running at clock speeds of 3.06GHz and above.
Built with three DDR memory slots, the P4PB Ultra offers complete DDR333 and limited DDR400 memory support, and is able to provide a maximum memory capacity of up to 3GB.
Compared to another P4X400-based motherboard from VIA, the P4PB 400, the new product features one more technology support in the ATA/133 RAID specification.
For expansion demand, the P4PB Ultra provides six PCI slots and four USB 2.0 ports. Network connectivity is provided through the combination of VIA's integrated 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet MAC and onboard VT6103 PHY. An onboard C-Media CMI8738 audio codec chip offers six channels of digital surround sound and supports both optical and S/PDIF outputs.
The P4PB Ultra motherboard is now available through global sales partners of the VIA Platform Solutions Division (VPSD).
