Achim Hasenmüller gave a very interesting speach regarding what the current status is on Project Odin. Most of us have not seen anything for quite while.
Reason has been that the Odin Team had to re-code quite a lot of the Odin code to get futher on - two steps back - and are now taking two steps forward. During this session Achim explained also how that architecture of Win 32 and OS/2 are build and comparable to exploit some of common features in the OS.
Most interesting would be the demos of working software when using the Odin code. Software such as RealPlayer (yes, you now can do full audio and video streaming in OS/2!), Acrobat Destiller, Acrobat Reader 4, Word 97, Lotus WordPro Millenium Edition and many more. It now would be time to install the Odin code again and start to use it.
Achim also declared that the way the community could help out, except for pure coding, would be to find customer projects to work with. So if You know any company that really have the need of porting an Windows32-bit application to OS/2. Contact Achim or any other in the Odin Team. Current it would help them more to focus on one single application and get it work. By getting one appliaction to work under OS/2 usually have the spin off effect that couple of other applications works much better or fully.
Stay tuned for more!
