Did You know that there actually is software available for OS2 to use QuickCams? Well, if not, read on!

The QuickCam Viewer's native OS/2 support consists of a PM application, a device-driver, utility application and support DLLs. It allows for complete control over the camera's exposure, brightness and contrast (including hue and saturation for colour) and includes image sizing capabilities. And yes of course, if you were wondering, it is 32-bit and multi-threaded and written in 'C' to be tight and efficient!

General Features

The Viewer has the following features and more:

- Supports VC, Colour 2, Colour and B&W cameras.

- Auto-detects parallel port to which camera is connected and port-capabilities.

- Access to camera controls for Exposure, Brightness and Contrast via sliders.

- Image enhancement with Gamma-corrected palette also on slider.

- Auto-exposure calibration to suit current lighting conditions.

- Any portion of the image can be selected for viewing - smaller image, higher frame-rate.

- Image can optionally be stretched to fill entire picture window.

- Image can be saved to a BMP or JPEG file, copied to the clipboard or printed.

- Drag and Drop, picture can be dragged from the window, in BMP or JPEG format for saving or printing.

- Configurable Settings, Image/Camera and Others optionally saved to ini-file.

- Desktop Lockup support or screen-saver which includes a number of variations of live on-screen images.

- Snapshot Scheduler will save a picture to a file at any interval, all day or between preset times of day.

- Text on picture is configurable with Date/Time, Camera settings and custom text.

- On-line context-sensitive help.

- Colour controls include Hue, Saturation and Black level which are available on a separate control panel or by doubling up with the Brightness, Exposure and Contrast sliders, as shown on the image above. Clicking on the icon adjacent to the slider toggles Black level to Brightness, Hue to Exposure and Saturation to Contrast and vice versa. The VC camera colour controls are Red Hue, Blue Hue and Saturation, these are in place of Hue, Saturation and Black. Low-light Filter which is very effective in removing the specks of red, green and blue pixels which show up on the image when long exposure times are used.

Developers Edition

Available to developers who are registered users, a support library which provides full camera control and fully functional 'C' sample code. Anything the QuickCam Viewer can do is available using the APIs provided. The command-line snapshot grabber (QV2SNAP) and the stand-alone CuSeeMe/2 plug-in are written to this interface.
