Subject: Announcing Virus Scan OS/2 End of Life

With this message we are communicating the end of life plan for VirusScan OS/2. The plan outlined below will provide you with data on what you can expect from McAfee B2B in terms of support for this product during the End Of Life process.
Lifecycle Milestones

Last product release: 13 August 2001
Last orders accepted: 31 December 2001
End of Support (EOS): 31 December 2002
End of Life (EOL): 31 December 2002


Details
Product: VirusScan OS/2 4.04 was released in August 2001. This is the last version of VirusScan OS/2 to be released by McAfee.
Effective 1 January 2002, McAfee will no longer accept orders for VirusScan OS/2 licenses. The product will no longer be available on the download website and all marketing references to the product will be removed from both hard copy and electronic distribution.
During 2002, the only bug fixes that will be considered are those that are related to the product not detecting or cleaning viruses. No other fixes to the product will be made. No changes to the product of any type will be made after 31 December 2002.
Customers who have licenses for the product that extend past 31 December 2002 will use the product after this date at their own risk.
OS/2 Engine & Command Line Scanner: The 4180 engine (estimated to be released in Q1 or Q2 2002) will be the last engine provided for OS/2.
Along with the 4180 OS/2 engine, an OS/2 command line scanner will also be provided. Support for the 4180 OS/2 engine and command line scanner will end 31 December 2002.
Technical Support: Effective 1 January 2002, McAfee will no longer accept orders for VirusScan OS/2 technical support. Technical support will be provided until the EOS/EOL date? 31 December 2002. No technical support will be provided after this date.
