Somebody contacted me saying he was having trouble installing PM Fax on eComStation. I called CDS and they said they where working on a sollution...
Development of the OS/2 version is going onward BTW....
It turns out this bug is not only on eCS. For people who want to know more, visit groups.google.com and enter crszip.exe.
The install with different versions of PM Fax fails on crszip.exe. Its a self extracting file but the executable used to create the self extracting file is too old. Maybe the trouble occurs because of the new kernel in fixpak 13 and higher ?
So what is the sollution ? Take the file cgizip.exe and copy it in an empty directory and put crszip.exe also in an empty directory. Unzip the files (just from the command line type unzip.exe cgizip.exe), the files will then be uncompressed.
Now use zip.exe to create new zipfiles.
You should end up with a zipfile called CGIZIP.ZIP that contains at root level the directory LASERFAX. The other zip file should contain the directory CALERA in the root and should be called CRSZIP.ZIP Get the following tool from hobbes:
hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/archiver/kazip1.zip
unzip the file kazip1.zip and unzip the .EXE files that comes out of this file. Use KAZipSFX.exe to turn the two zipfiles into self extracting files.
>From the command line
Then copy the files back onto the diskette or on the hard drive in a directory where all diskettes have been copied.
Then restart the installation. Please beware that when you use the zip to exe file mentioned above you will be prompted to enter the directory where you want to unzip the files TO!. This directory will be the directory where the files are! You need to change the path that you specified PMfax is installed to!
