On September 29th, Duy Nguyen and Michel Normand have released version 4.5h beta of F, the Swiss army knive of file managers. F is a freeware text-mode multi-platform application. Supported operating systems are OS/2, AIX, BSD, Linux, and Win32.

F is not only a very configurable file manager, but also offers an FTP/FXP client, an editor with syntax-highlighting, numerous tools for developers, simple e-mail and news clients, as well as small HTTP and FTP servers. F comes with its own FFP (F to F protocol) for file transfers and remote file execution, providing services for remote administration. Note that the interface is keyboard-only.

This is mainly a bugfix release. New features include virtual file system (VFS) support without the need for external helpers for disk images (DSK) and ISO CD images. Currently, you can't change the files, but files can be extracted and viewed using F's internal viewer.
