Lots of internal stuff happening around here right now.

I'm going to fill everyone in with what's been happening under the ground floor.

First off the eCS site is running on Linux right now. In the mad dash to get this site up and running it was a "get the site up, worry about what on latter". Well, latter is now here and I'm very proud to say the eCS site will soon have a new home on its very own server. Quite bluntly, the server is a monster. Here are the important specks the new server and some of the software she will be running:

Hardware:

Dual Pentium 3 866Mhz
75 Gig IBM Diskstor
512 Megs of Ram
3Com NIC
Matrox G450 Video Card

Software:

eComStation Pro
Apache
PHP
MySQL
Lotus R5
IBM's Websphere
And, oh, so much more...

The server is up and tested out and we are moving all the services over from Linux to eCS. We haven't had too many bumps in the road in the transfer. We will announce to everyone when we are completely done. Already the FTP server has been alive and running well. Development teams are using the FTP Site to move information around from Teammate to teammate.

If you want to see proof simply move your browser here:

http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=www2.ecomstation.com

Once we get a bug or two clobbered we will move the eComStation site to the www2.ecomstation.com, which is the server. No changing of bookmarks will be necessary; it will be www.ecomstation.com per normal.

This is just the beginning.

A lot more is happening though right now. As the development team polishes up eComStation, the eCS Web Design Team is developing a whole new database that will house registered people that own eCS. These people will then be able to download eCS drivers, eCS only software, and eCS Protection Plan software. The eCS Forums will be tied into Email and newsgroups, giving all eCS users the ability to talk to each other via they way they like to.

The database is done in MySQL and laced in PHP. This will give us a tremendous amount of freedom. We have plans, and are working on, a new type of forums
that is also designed in PHP and MySQL (Read: very fast downloads), which will allow people to post in to eCS Forums and send this information to people via Email. People getting the Email then can Email back and it will be posted in the eCS Forums. We are also working on getting a Newsgroup setup that will also be inter-changeable with the Email and eCS Forums. This is important so both experienced users that are used to newsgroups, Email users that don't have a lot of bandwidth or time to spend on the Internet, and eCS Forums users that are new to eCS, can all talk and help each other.

Also, we have just opened up a small location that will have downloads for eCS. This is an open area for now but when eCS goes gold, it will be closed to registered eCS users only. Right now we have just started adding to the list and soon we will have all drivers listed and ready for download.

Examples of software that is ready to download are:

1. Scitech 7.05 Drivers
2. USB Drivers
3. Removable Drivers
4. Java

This new areas of eCS are located in the support pages:

Keep watching this spot; more information will be flowing as we come closer to the release of eComStation.

Critical Mass is approaching…
