I've created some patches for Samba which enhance its ability to act
as a NetBios Name Server and add the ability to act as a NetBios
Datagram Distributor.
Without the patches, Samba mirrors how MS WINS servers act - it does
not register group names other than type 0x1c properly, and it does
not act as an NBDD. Without these features, OS/2 clients cannot logon
to domains, OS/2 or NT, if they are using TCPBeui in a routed environment.
The patch, by adding those features, allows OS/2 clients and servers to easily use TCPBeui in a routed TCP/IP network. I have only tested this running Samba on Linux, but I imagine it would work on any platform supported by Samba.
Please see my web page at:
for the patch and instructions.
