The ACPI driver has been updated on the eComStation Betazone
(for Software Subscription customers only); this is a major new (beta)
release, resulting from the work of a new developer. Advanced
Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) is a replacement for APM, PnP,
and related hardware features. It features support for multiprocessor
systems (SMP, Dual Core, and HyperThreading), there is an APM driver,
and an ACPI Setup tool that replaces the Power object.
There is an ACPI Tools
web page as well, which includes a battery monitoring widget for
XCenter. Future work includes using the HLT instruction, improving
suspend/resume support, and Fn function key support for laptops. Thanks
to Roderick Klein for the info.
