It seems that IBM is transitioning out of Smalltalk by letting the company Instantiations take over VisualAge for Smalltalk. Here is a copy of the announcement posted by Instantiations about the transition:

"Instantiations and IBM are partnering to extend the viable, supported product life of VisualAge Smalltalk applications. This new relationship is an integral part of the larger IBM Smalltalk Transition and Roadmap Strategy that ensures existing VisualAge Smalltalk customer business needs and requirements are met. Under the new relationship Instantiations will develop, market and support a new, modernized, Smalltalk product called VA SmalltalkÍ."

Concerning OS support this was listed in the FAQ section:
" Q: IBM supports many operating systems with VAST, will you continue to support them all? A: At this time Instantiations will support all OS versions of VisualAge Smalltalk. Over time we will assess the customer need for the platforms and make decisions accordingly."

OS/2 lives on after all. Hoy Yah!
