Hi all,
it took me a few days but I have now released the latest and greatest version of NVU, the WYSIWYG HTML editor based on Mozilla Firefox and developed by Daniel Glazman. Thanks to Rich Walsh's recent work on Firefox you can now use d&d to install extensions, language packs, and themes. As before, the German de-DE translation by Thorsten Fritz (thanks!) is included, use that with -UIlocale de-DE.
The "Change Log" for the official release from 0.70 to 0.80
* exprimental XHTML 1.0 support (see checkbox in File > New dialog)
WARNING: to be able to edit an XHTML file, its MIME type must be application/xhtml+xml. It is then highly recommended to use locally the extension *.xhtml and check that your remote server serves XHTML files with the correct MIME type. Ask your ISP if you don't understand the above.
* line numbering in source view
* support for
WARNING: ... ?> form is deprecated by the PHP Group and is NOT supported, <% ... %> form for asp/jsp is NOT supported
* support for comments
* double-click on a PHP/Comment in Normal view to edit it; use Insert menu to create one
* small icons in main toolbar (Customize toolbar, checkbox is in panel)
* all strings now localizable
* when a document is published and if the relevant directory is shown in the site manager, its entry/icon is added if it's not already there
* 2 security bugs
* site manager was not able to work correctly if the remote server
allows to climb above home directory
* Horizontal Line properties were not working, Image Dialog was
partially horked
* source view was deleting some white spaces
* rulers could not resize tables with cellspacing="0"
* on slow machines, the Site Manager remained blank on first launch because the pinger dialog is modal
There were supposed to be some improvements with the handling of
s but they aren't noted here for some reason. I think Daniel also forgot to write that he disabled the integrated help in this version (Help -> Help Contents is missing)...
Please download the newest version from my website below (you may need to reload the frame) as a ZIP file of 10.1 MiB size.
Additionally, I ask for your help. The icon attached to the EXE file looks better now on my desktop, but in the OS/2 Icon Editor it just appears black and is missing the other resolutions good OS/2 icons have. So, if you know how to handle this, please produce a better icon and send it to me so that I can include it in the next version. (The current one is shipped as nvu/chrome/icons/default/editorWindow.ico.)
