This is the next public beta release of eRedMan, a pipe redirection manager for eComStation and OS/2. It is a general pipe redirection utility (like printmon.exe or print2ps.cmd that comes with ePDF). Its equivalent in the Windows world is RedMon.
eRedMan is able to monitor multiple pipes and associate one program to a each pipe and execute that program, whenever data was written to the pipe.
What is new is this beta?
+Added: Toolbar with shortcuts to 3 existing contextmenu functions (Stop, Restart, Settings)
+Added: Toolbar buttons to open printer folder and spooler object.
+Added: Some more help text
*Changed: Rewrote pipe monitor code once more
*Changed: After a thread has completed a new one is spawned much faster than before (3rd attempt to fix job loss problem, and this one really looks promissing)
Known problems and limitations:
* Printing to a pipe which is associated to GhostScript and configured to write to LPT1, while VPC is running causes a SYS3175 crash in PMSPOOL.EXE. Usage in conjunction with VPC is problematic anyway. This is under investigation. More feedback is required here.
* Temporary files are placed into the TEMP directory. eRedMan currently has a very primitive cleanup mechanism for leftover files, so you will not be able to run this beta for a very long time (weeks or months) without restarting it once in a while, depending on the number of usages.
On a PC that is rebooted daily, this should not be an issue.
Feedback is appreciated (although there was almost none up to now).
