This is the third public beta release of eRedMan, a pipe redirection manager for eComStation and OS/2. It is a general pipe redirection utility (like printmon.exe or print2ps.cmd that comes with ePDF). Its equivalent in the Windows world is RedMon.
eRedMan is multithreaded and capable of monitoring multiple pipes and associate one program to a particular pipe and execute it, whenever data was written to the pipe.
What is new is this beta?
Added: Started with the content of the help file
Changed: Reorganized pipe monitor code once more (This is the 2nd attempt to try to prevent the loss of a 2nd job that is written to the pipe shortly after the previous one (1/10 of a second faster this time)
Known problems and limitations:
* I am still seeing random lockups and/or SYS3175 in PMSPOOL.EXE when printing from VPC multiple times in fast sequences of 4 or more jobs. This is under investigation. More feedback is required here (and there was none up to now regarding this issue).
* Temporary files are placed into the TEMP directory. eRedMan currently has a very primitive cleanup mechanism for leftover files, so you will not be able to run this beta for a very long time (weeks or months) without restarting it once in a while, depending on the number of usages. On a PC that is rebooted daily, this should not be an issue.
Feedback is appreciated (although there was almost none for beta 2).
