It would be overly simplistic to say that IBM is a company that first establishes what a customer needs to solve its problems and then rummages through its I.T. attic for some hardware and software to do the trick. But as other tech firms appear hell bent on cracking this or that technology nut, IBM has raised the pitch on its customer-service mantra. That means serving clients running OS2, mostly in the financial sector, which do not see an urgent need to change.
